Get to know Jim St. Martin, one of NEOS’ Systems Consultants and his take on #LifeatNEOS

As a Systems Consultant, tell me a little bit about what you do for NEOS and our clients.

I bring a broad set of legacy financial systems knowledge as well as extensive large-scale conversion planning and execution experience. I foster relationships with our clients and have strong mainframe skills that help as I consult our clients.

Who inspires you, and why?

My children. My daughter, Jessie, is a cellular biologist in Boston working for a research group studying ALS. She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University and is studying for her Ph.D. at Brandeis University. As importantly, she is a great Mom and a loving daughter. My son Chris is a fearless self-made entrepreneur owning two restaurants in Truckee, CA north of Lake Tahoe. He is a devoted husband and father. They often remind me that my encouragement and support through the years has helped them achieve the successes they enjoy. Their accomplishments and perseverance are my greatest inspirations.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be yourself.

What is your Starbucks order?

I’ve never had Starbucks. I’m kind of a regular cup of Joe guy, dark, no sugar.

What is your favorite thing about #LIFEATNEOS?

NEOS brought me on board after I was force-retired from a major insurer in the area. Two NEOS employees contacted me after I was released. They had positive memories of working with me in the past, knowing I was a good candidate for legacy conversion work. They’ve allowed me to not only support the conversion of one of our clients as a developer but also to help put together and present proposals to acquire more conversion work for NEOS. I love working for NEOS. I like the speed at which we move and the diversity of talent we possess. I had a chance to come into the Hartford office earlier this year. I enjoyed the visit and meeting folks face-to-face. The weather in January was not quite as nice as what we get in Florida, but the people were great!
